Adela I. Flores, Executive Director

Adela Flores joined Hispanas Unidas in the fall of 2008, and is eager to take the organization to new heights. In addition to overseeing the Escuelitas Program and its staff, she is working with the Board of Directors and the newly established Advisory Board to develop other programs to serve Latinas and their community. Born and raised in Laredo, Texas, Adela earned a BA in Philosophy and a Masters in Latin American Studies from the University of Texas at Austin.  After working in the non-profit and government sector for several years, she attended Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government Mid Career Program and received a Masters in Public Administration. Adela has worked in the field of Latina/o Leadership Development for over 15 years and continues to be involved in the community through service on various boards and organizations. She is the proud mother of one son, Andres.

Dalila Gonzalez, Program Specialist

Dalila joined Hipanas Unidas in October 2006.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Services with a minor in Psychology from Wayland Baptist University in 2005.  She has worked with Communities in School and as a substitute eacher with Southwest ISD,  she is a member of the Texas Teacher Program. Dalila brings a high level of enery and enthusiasm to the Escuelitas program and is excited to be part of an organization that focuses on children in high-risk areas of the city and hopes to make a difference in their lives.

Liseth Garza, Program Coordinator

Liseth Garza joined the Hispanas Unidas team in August of 2009.  She is the Program Coordinator for the Escuelitas Program.  Before joining the Escuelitas Program Liseth worked with The University of Texas at San Antonio’s Upward Bound Program, helping high school students prepare to enter and graduate from college.  Prior to that, Liseth worked with Communities in Schools in Austin, Texas where she provided a variety of social services, group work, and individual counseling to elementary students.  She has over ten years working and advocating for youth and their families.  Her work with the Escuelitas Program is uniquely rewarding as she is passionate about empowering young girls to be confident and to reach their fullest potential.  She received her Bachelor of Social Work from Our Lady of the Lake University and her Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin.
