A Seat at the Table: Preparing Latinas for Boards & Commissions

On September 27, 2025, over 60 women gathered with Hispanas Unidas at the Alamo College District Boardroom in San Antonio for an inspiring workshop designed to prepare Latinas for leadership on boards and commissions. Attendees gained practical tools, confidence, and connections to step into roles that shape our community.

The event featured powerful insights from Olga Kauffman, Councilwoman Ivalis Meza Gonzalez, Bernadette Peña, and Monica Crus, Ph.D., whose wisdom and encouragement empowered participants to claim their rightful place at the decision-making table. With energy, collaboration, and stories shared, the workshop celebrated the strength of community and the importance of representation.

This memorable afternoon reinforced the mission of Hispanas Unidas: building more seats, amplifying more voices, and creating lasting impact where it matters most.

Hispanas Unidas 40th Anniversary Reunion & Conference: Raising Our Voices

In 2024, Hispanas Unidas celebrated 40 years of empowering Latinas with a landmark reunion and conference in San Antonio, TX. Over  500 attendees—from students and mothers to community leaders and business owners—gathered at Our Lady of the Lake University for a transformative two-day event.

With 87 sessions and over 125 Latina speakers, the conference featured panels, workshops, and interactive discussions spanning leadership, civic engagement, environmental justice, cultural resilience, and other topics. A celebratory Friday reunion honored the women who organized the original 1984 conference, while Saturday offered a full day of inspiration, learning, and networking across generations.

The 40th Anniversary Conference highlighted the enduring impact of Latinas in San Antonio and beyond—celebrating trailblazers of the past, empowering voices of the present, and inspiring leaders of the future.

Empower Latinas to learn, lead, inspire, and thrive.
